Contact rescue organizations in your area who may be able to assist.
Shelters and rescue groups often have waiting lists for people who are looking to find a new home for their pet, so please be patient and give them some time to get back to you. If you are able to, offer to keep the pet at your home while the rescue group helps you find a new home.
Make sure you understand the difference between surrendering your pet to a rescue group, shelter and pound. Some pounds do not offer rehoming programs, and the future of your pets may be uncertain. Some shelters also have time limits that apply. If you are contacting a pound or shelter, contact them and ask about their “no-kill” policy.
